February Check In

February already! It has been an awesome month for reaching goals and resolutions and I have spent most of it dreaming and scheming about Mexico. It is such a relief to finally have a trip on the horizon and keeping that dream in mind has been so helpful for my mental health and inspiration to take care of my health and wealth!

I meditated for 10-15 minutes and journaled at least 1 full page every day of January.

I was sober 18/31 days.

I had 10 days where I didn’t spend a single cent (10 no spend days was the goal!)

I took my kayak out at least one time (a monthly goal), which was a particularly beautiful day. I saw 5 otters and found out that the kayak pick up ends at a fun bar right on the water where you can pull up your boat and grab a drink. I’ll definitely be visiting again!

I also took a walk (usually around 2 miles but sometimes long as 7) 23/31 days, and I discovered a new favorite trail!

I don’t set specific reading goals because reading is my favorite hobby and I don’t have to build a routine around it, but I finished 18 books in January! 3 of them took place in Mexico.

I completed at least one lesson on Duolingo every day of January, but my streak is at 442 days so that’s not too impressive any more.

Financially, I am proud of the decisions I’ve been making! Although for the first month, my savings has actually gone down. This is because I didn’t receive a stimulus check, but I had no reason to think that was going to happen (I received the first one no problem!) so I took the risk of transferring $1000 out of my savings onto my largest credit card before the payment came due, and then never received the stimulus check to pay myself back. That decision did boost my credit score a full 26 points however, and it has really inspired me to get that card paid off ASAP and I have a firm plan in place to have it at a zero balance by summer. Here’s where we stand:

Savings: $2900 (-$450 since Jan 1)

Credit card debt: $6249 (-$2209 since Jan 1!)
