November Check In!
I realize that we are midway through November already but I’ve had so many wins lately that I just had to share! As of today my credit score jumped 37 points and I’m almost at 700! Last month I was able to pay off my second credit card completely (2 left!) and they upped my limit another thousand dollars, but I’m only just seeing the rewards! It feels good!
After I break 700 I think I’m going to shop around for an auto loan refinance.
In other news, I also got my savings account to $3000! The goal was $4000 by the New Year but with Christmas coming up, I don’t think that’s going to happen. However, I am proud that I’ve thought of good gifts for most of my family already and I’m happy that I can afford to get them what they deserve! Since I’ve officially made the decision not to visit my parents for Thanksgiving, I am definitely using gifts to assuage my guilt. Not even sorry about it.
In another adulting news, I currently have a doctor’s appointment AND a dentist’s appointment scheduled, and I’m waiting to hear back from a few therapists to schedule some counseling as well. This involved so many phone calls and emails and conversations with insurance companies and stressed out receptionists, it is no small feat, but I am going to wring every penny out of my employer-paid health insurance!
I also had my first formal teaching observation by the principal and his feedback on my lesson included lots of exclamation points and words like “awesome” and “impressed” so I’m still glowing a bit about that. I got through the first nine weeks, report cards are out and no parents are sending me mean emails, I’m kind of crushing this teaching thing.
The district-wide teacher salary raise is supposed to be approved by the end of November which should include a nice back-paid check that I’m hoping to use to make a big dent in my largest credit card.
Things are looking up! Everything is hard but I’ve got New Zealand on my mind every day. I’m doing everything I can to be in the best place I can be for that adventure physically, financially, and spiritually!
What have you all been up to?!
